What is a Therapeutic Consultant?

Therapeutic Consultants (sometimes referred to as “Ed Consultants”) are licensed or credentialed professionals who help individuals and families with behavioral health issues. They assist in program selection and act as an advocate for both families and treatment programs prior to and during the course of treatment.

What is an Interventionist?

An Interventionist (often a Certified Intervention Professional, or CIP) is a trained specialist who guides families, friends, and loved ones through a structured, compassionate process to confront someone struggling with substance use disorders, addiction, mental health conditions, or other destructive behavioral patterns. The interventionist educates participants about the disorder and enabling behaviors, helps plan and rehearse the intervention to ensure it remains loving and non-accusatory rather than confrontational, facilitates the meeting to keep it focused and safe, motivates the individual to accept treatment by overcoming denial, and provides ongoing support including aftercare planning and connections to appropriate recovery resources—ultimately aiming to interrupt harmful cycles and foster entry into professional help.
